Manta Rhei Dive Center │ Indonesia

dive komodo

our family in komodo

We’re a Belgian family that started operating our Komodo dive center in 2014. We’re a true dive family. We’ve been passionate about diving for years and travelled to different continents exploring famous dive destinations and sites. We always had a dream to start up a dive center somewhere. But after one holiday in Komodo diving we fell in love with Indonesia and knew that this would be the place we now call our new home. Fast forward to today we have a big international family working together to show you the beauty and wonder of Komodo island that inspired us to reside here.

Today our Komodo dive center has  Alex and Indi working as PADI dive instructors. Rikar, Fardin, Eko and Rifan as PADI Dive Masters guiding divers in Komodo National Park on our daily dive trips and liveaboard. We take pride in our work as professionals and strive everyday to give you the best dive experience possible with highest regard for safety when diving with us in Komodo. The local boat staff works hard every day to give our divers the service and comfort we would want when going out diving.

We work together with families who have been here for generations and park authorities to help preserve the Komodo‘s natural wonders by helping in shaping park policies, safe diving practises and volunteer with different NGO’s such as Trash Hero.

“Ever-newer waters flow to those who step into the same river.” Our name comes from Heraclitus‘ philosophy of “Panta Rhei” literally means that everything flows, in ancient Greek. Everything is always changing. You can not step into the same river twice. The water is in a constant state of motion, creating new experiences every time you descend below the sea.

Komodo National Park

Komodo National Park consists of 29 island with Komodo, Rinca and Padar island dominating the landscape. UNESCO declared this park in 1986 a World Heritage Site because of the famous Komodo dragons and of course its unique marine life

The many islands in the park give an overwhelming variety of dive sites such as sea mounts, shallow reef bays, current passages, sea grass beds and many more. These habitats are harbouring 1000 different species of fish and 260 different species of coral. In 2012, Komodo National Park was selected as one of the New 7 Natural Wonders of the World, proving yet again as you will come to Komodo diving, its beauty and reputation as a must-see destination for divers and travellers!

We have covered many topics about Komodo in our blog, from manta rays, the giants roaming our seas, to the smallest pygmy sea horse.

No problem! Our Discover Scuba Dive course lets you try diving for a day on our daily dive boat without the need of a certification. You will learn all the basics about scuba diving from our experienced PADI dive instructors and will help you navigate the wonders below. You can find more information here. In case you’re not keen on diving, you can always join our boat to explore Komodo snorkeling and see the Komodo dragons on our Jurassic days. More info you can find here.

Absolutely. Komodo is more than just diving in current. The national park has many sites that are suitable for all level of divers. We meticulously plan our dives according to the tides and sea conditions. The dive groups on the daily boat are divided according to our guests dive certification and experience level with no more than 4 guests per Dive Master. With this we can ensure you to have fun, safe dives during your diving trip in Komodo. We have laid out all you need to know in our blog post here. And if you’re still hesitating, consider doing the PADI Advanced course to expand you skills and experience under the guidance of one of our experienced PADI dive instructors.

Yes, recently installed in SILOAM Hospital which is a private hospital with modern facilities. Use of the Decompression chamber is not included in the package, however if guests have dive insurance it is usually covered. At Manta Rhei you can always opt to purchase a daily DAN Insurance in case your personal travel insurance does not cover diving.

There are several ATM’s along the main road, however it is common for the ATM’s to be out of money or order., so it’s good to be prepared with cash. It’s important to note that most businesses also have a surcharge of approx. 3% for using credit cards.

Labuan Bajo is a small harbour town where pretty much everything is walking distance on the main street. But it does have a lot of taxis and motorbike taxis to go about town for reasonable prices.
